When to list your home for sale

Conventional wisdom needs to change this year when it comes to the buying and selling real estate.

The beginning of 2017 has seen housing inventory levels in the Chicagoland area hit multi-year lows.  Local home sellers face very low competition in the market.

In a recent article by Trulia, inventory levels were shown to have dropped compared to last year in every category including starter homes, move-up homes and luxury homes.

If you’re waiting to sell your home until the traditional spring market, you should realize all of your competition is following suit.  Everyone knows that the 2nd quarter of the year is when homeowners decide to sell.  The demand for housing is STRONG right now!  Why wait until April, May or June to list?  We can get your home sold NOW before the competition, and the new construction, enters the market.

The chief economist at Realtor.com, Jonathan Smoke, said in a recent article, “We’re in an era in which conventional wisdom is becoming an ever-sketchier concept. So why should real estate be immune from all this topsy-turviness? This year, the conventional wisdom of buying and selling may need to change.”

2017 is the year you want to put your home on the market as soon as possible.  Typical spring market rules do NOT apply.  Don’t wait, get started today by finding out what someone would pay for your home in today’s local real estate market.
